Perry is Perry is a Chicago native who was birthed to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. The character Jackie Harris was played by her mom in both of the two shows she starred in on Roseanne. But her parents would not allow her to act until she was an adult due to the impact stress might be able to have on their daughter. Perry shy and timid to perform in the high school, started to act in the theater at Northwestern University because she wanted to meet new people. Perry left for New York, where she landed small roles in series such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Home sickiness led Perry back to California and theater roles were readily available. Her mother and she appeared on Broadway with her as part of The Other Place, in 2013. In 2015, she was a part of her father and Kevin McKidd in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Anna Christie on the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West Los Angeles. Perry was in nine episodes of The Family, an ABC drama The Family in 2016. In 2017, Perry had a minor role on ABC's political thriller Scandal which starred her father. The actress also portrayed in the role of a older Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon - which is a CBS spin-off from The Big Bang Theory. Despite her family link to the character, she was offered the part through an audition.
