Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. She has released over 20 albums. DiFranco's music has been classified as folk as well as alternative rock, but it includes influence from hip hop and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco is considered to be the father of the DIY movement being one of the first musicians to launch her own record label in 1990. DiFranco was a born on the 23rd of September, 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father is of Italian roots and her mother was born in Montreal. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the song "32 Flavors". This song appears on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. This song appears on the film soundtrack for the Canadian romantic drama Better Than Chocolate from 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized when it was revealed that she planned to host the three-day event on an old Louisiana plantation for slaves. Many (including us) were not affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco issued another apology several days afterward. While she is known for her role as Little Peoplesinger, she's collaborated with a variety of musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D until Prince. She is from New Orleans.
